The key turning point occurred around July 13. As the system moved north to about 21°N, its direction shifted from west to north, with an increasing eastward component. From July 14 to 15, the typhoon moved rapidly north along roughly the 125°E meridian, with latitude rising from 24.8°N to 34.1°N. After July 15, it fully entered the mid-latitude westerlies, and its track turned markedly northeast. It finally weakened and dissipated near 47°N, 133°E on July 17. It made no landfall and remained mainly over the open ocean.
