Although Alice in 1966 reached super typhoon status with a pressure of 937hPa, Alice in 1979 reached an even lower pressure of 928hPa. Its core intensity was therefore among the strongest ever recorded under the name Alice and made it one of the strongest tropical cyclones bearing that name in more than a decade.
