Typhoon June trajectory
Track and Movement Characteristics
Typhoon June (197519) formed at Northwest Pacific低纬度海域, 初始Position位 at 6.2°N, 142.8°E.
The track’s key turning point occurred from November 22 to 23. After reaching 22.9°N, 135.3°E, Typhoon StopW shifted sharply toward the NE. From 08:00 to 20:00 on November 23, its longitude rapidly increased from 137.9°E to 143.6°E, while its latitude jumped from 25.9°N to 30.6°N, indicating typical acceleration after recurvature. It then moved toward the NE into the mid- and high-latitude seas, ultimately weakening into a Severe Tropical Storm at 46°N, 169°E at 20:00 on November 24, when observations ended. It made no landfall and remained mainly over the open ocean throughout its lifecycle.
Intensity evolution and historical comparison
This typhoon underwent a remarkably rapid intensification. It began as a Tropical Depression at 08:00 on November 16, with winds of 12m/s and a central pressure of 1000hPa, and developed into a Super Typhoon in about 3 days. During the 36 hours from 08:00 on November 18 to 20:00 on November 19, its central pressure plummeted from 965hPa to 877hPa, while maximum wind speed surged from 40m/s to 75m/s, reaching peak intensity with a minimum pressure of 875hPa. It remained at peak strength until November 21, then began weakening but retained Severe Typhoon status, with winds of 50m/s, through November 22.
Compared with the same-named storms in history, June 1975 had significantly greater intensity. The peak intensities of the same-named typhoons in 1987, 1984, and 1981 were Tropical Storm, Severe Tropical Storm, and Typhoon, respectively, with minimum pressures all above 962hPa. Even the June 1969 typhoon, which also reached Super Typhoon status, had a minimum pressure of 939hPa and was weaker than June 1975, which reached 875hPa. The data show that June 1975 was the strongest and most explosive of the listed same-named typhoons.

FAQ
Typhoon June is the 1975 Typhoon.
The number 197519 for Typhoon June is a historical number retained by the CMA, referring to the 19th typhoon of 1975. Its international name was JUNE. The international numbering system for the Northwest Pacific did not begin until 1981. Before then, agencies such as the JMA (Japan), the Joint Typhoon Warning Center in the USA, and China’s meteorological authorities used different numbers for the same typhoon, so they cannot be compared directly.
Where does the track data for Typhoon June come from?
Path. Data sources: China Meteorological Administration Tropical Cyclone Best Track Dataset (CMA-STI); wind speed refers to 2-min sustained wind speed. Track points at intermediate times are encrypted based on original operational positioning data, while wind speed and pressure are interpolated using best-track anchor points.
What is the highest level of Typhoon June?
Typhoon June peak intensity is Super Typhoon, max wind 75m/s, minimum central pressure 875 hPa.
Typhoon JuneLandfall?
According to records, Typhoon June is not in our coastal landfall.
