Notably, the typhoon’s track turned significantly as it approached the northern part of the South China Sea. From August 31 to September 1, it continued moving northwest toward 113°E, then showed a marked turn toward the west-southwest after 20:00 on September 1. From September 2 until it dissipated on September 5, its movement gradually shifted southwestward, eventually stalling near 108.2°E, 17.1°N. Its entire track formed a parabolic NW–SW trajectory. It made no landfall and remained mainly over the sea.

The latter three peaked at only the typhoon or tropical storm level, whereas Wanda in 1962 reached severe typhoon intensity, making it the strongest and lowest-pressure storm among the named typhoons listed.
